The Restrictions menu allows you to add or delete restrictions. To modify existing restrictions, click on the Restrictions tab if necessary to bring it to the foreground, then click in whichever cell you wish to change.
- Opens a dialog used to add restrictions. You will be asked to select
two individuals who will be bound by the restriction, using drop down
lists. The order in which you specify them is immaterial. (For what
should be a fairly obvious reason, you will not be allowed to use the
same individual in both boxes.) Next, select the type of restriction:
APART to induce Parity Builder to
assign them to different rosters, or TOGETHER to induce
Parity Builder to assign them to the same roster.
Note that Parity Builder considers an
APART restriction to be satisfied if either or both
individuals go unassigned; it considers a TOGETHER
restriction to be satisfied if both go unassigned, but not if one is
assigned and the other is not. Finally, either designate the restriction
as mandatory (a solution that fails to satisfy it is completely
unacceptable) or assign it a priority using the slider. Then click one of
the three buttons to complete the process:
- Records the new restriction and keeps the dialog open, with the same information filled in. This is convenient if you are entering a string of new restrictions.
- Records the new restriction and closes the dialog.
- Closes the dialog without recording the new restriction.
- Deletes one or more restrictions, selected in the Restrictions tab. Select a single restriction by clicking in the leftmost column of its row. Select multiple consecutive restrictions by clicking on the first and then shift-clicking on the last (or vice versa). Select multiple non-consecutive restrictions by clicking on the first and then control-clicking on others. You will be asked to confirm the deletion before it occurs.
